What is a Dental Veneer?
Veneers are thin pieces of durable porcelain that are shaped like teeth and are custom-made to match the colour of your teeth.
Using veneers, our dentists are able to create a more uniform smile for our patients. Your dentist bonds the restoration to the front of your natural tooth to change the symmetry, shape or colour of your smile.
How Veneers Work
First, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth which will be used to create your custom veneers. Once your veneers have been made, they will be bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth.
These veneers are made from a razor-thin piece of porcelain that are custom-shaped to match your smile. The porcelain imitates the natural translucency of tooth enamel and has a very natural look and feel.
Do Veneers Require Special Care?
To maintain your veneers, brush and floss regularly using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Avoid whitening products, as they can damage the veneers.
For longevity, avoid biting into hard foods like apples and carrots. While porcelain veneers resist stains, limiting dark foods and drinks such as red wine, coffee, and tea can help preserve their appearance.
Dental veneers can last for many years if cared for properly.
